Doll-A-Day 2017 # 201: The Beast

Yesterday we looked at the very first belle doll from "Beauty and the Beast". That doll was from 1991. Today we're going to skip ahead  to 2009 to look at the Beast.

This Beast was made by Mattel.

He resembles the character from the animated movie much more than the original Beast doll did.

He even has his little curl.

Like the original Beast, he has the head and body of the prince, and a removable coat with built in Beast bulk.

My guy is missing his boots, which is why you aren't seeing his feet.

"What hump?"

Without the coat he's the Prince.

He has the same sort of one piece outfit the original Beast had.

With a built in vest.

His cravat isn't so much a separate piece as a gathered shirt front. He does have a 'jewel'
on it though, something the original Beast was lacking. Note his lip paint. Not colouring in the lines very well, are we Mattel?

The vest is backless, and the whole outfit closes in the back with Velcro.

The vest ends at the shoulders and sides.
The Prince has jointed elbows and shoulders that rotate for posability.

I'm torn on this one. It's either "Don't shoot!" or "I'm telling you,the fish was this big!"
His coat has the head and hands attached.

"Ah! Dat's a spicy meat-a-ball!" I'm sorry. It's an old commercial and that's just what he looks like he's saying!
The Beast head doesn't sit down on his neck very well.

And his attached hand looks like it's trying to escape.

He has a friendlier expression than some Beasts, including the original.

"And a one, and a two..."
Here's another look at the Prince.

Tomorrow we'll see more of Beauty and the Beast.
