Doll-A-Day 2017 #350:Shruken Saturday:Peter Pan and the Pirates Wendy Doll

For this week's shrunken Saturday, the doll I'm showing you is Wendy, from the Fox TV series Peter Pan and the Pirates.

The series only lasted one year, from 1990 to 1991.

The Wendy in the series looked like this. Hey, her eyes are blue, not green.
There were 65 episodes. You can watch them HERE

The toys were made by THQ in 1991.

Here's a Wendy in her package.'Removable dress and soft, brushable hair.
There were several characters made in this series, plus a set of plush dolls. As you'll notice from this picture of the back of Wendy's package, the prototype Wendy was a lot different from the actual production doll. She had a very different face,a painted bodice and cloth skirt, her shoes were pink, her crown was white, and her eyes were a lot less staring than the actual doll's.

"Action figures and miniature dolls". Why don't the girls get to be action figures too?

Sorry about the bug eyes thing.

 Wendy is 4 1/2" tall.

Her dress is,as her package says, removable, and the little head band is too.

The rest of her clothes are painted on,as with her tights and shoes...

...or made as part of her molded white body and arms.(Her hands are the painted part.)

She is jointed at the neck, shoulders, and hips,so she can turn her head side to side, raise her arms, and sit.

My kids never actually watched the show, since my oldest, Emma, was born in 1991. (The show apparently ran in reruns for an additional year, but she was still a bit young!) The dolls lingered in Kay Bee toys for years. Wendy appealed to me, and finally I bought her for myself. Emma always coveted her though, and eventually I gave her to Emma.

She's on her way to Emma's house now that her photo shoot is over. See you tomorrow for another doll.

  1. LOL, I remember this show! One of the episodes was an Alice in Wonderland crossover and I remember being furious because the episode never showed the white rabbit.
